Membership Details For 2011, only 2 kinds of memberships are offered, being:
Full Membership including CSA (UCI) Race Licence This membership is aimed at riders wanting to maximise their riding and compete in as many of the races as possible in order to earn National (and international) and Provincial Points including UCI rankings.
Cost: R 75 per year payable to GAS - Plus a further R500 payable to Cycling SA - being R75 for CSA (the National body) membership, another R75 Affiliation Fee paid to Central Gauteng Cycling (CGC) as the Provincial body that sanctions GAS events and then another R350 for the actual UCI Race Licence. The race licence entitles you to race international and locally at all UCI sanctioned events and earn points for UCI as well as the National and the Provincial Series. To apply for CSA, CGC and Race licence go to http://csams.cyclingsa.com/home.aspx Note that all MTB (and DH) races in SA requires CSA sanctioning and a race licence is COMPULSORY whether the full race liecnce (of R350) or a Day Licence paid for at each race event for R35. Benefits: GAS members get 20% discount at all Provincial Cup and Champs events - usually R150 so you only pay R120 and save R30 per race entry. Note that certain private events organised by GAS will have a race entry of R250 and you will then only pay R200 as GAS member.
Full Membership and DAY Licence This membership is aimed at riders only focusing on the Provincial events and normal Jan-Jul race season, as well as not attending all races and the not so serious riders starting out. A Day Licence entitles you to race at a National event but you will earn NO UCI points, you can also race at Gauteng Provincial events AND earn Provincial points.
